(PICS) Nigerian model who fell off the runway

It is the moment every model dreads – taking a tumble on the catwalk in front of the fashion pack and photographers.

But at least they're in good company, with this model on a Lagos runway enduring her own Naomi Campbell moment yesterday with cameras there to catch the look of horror on her face.

The model went head over heels as she walked in platform shoes and a knee-length printed dress for Nigerian fashion house Kinabuti in front of invited guests at the Italian consulate.

SPORTS: Golden Eaglets advance to the finals of CAF's AYC U-17 championship

The Nigeria Under- 17 team will play the Young Elephants of Ivory Coast in the Matchday 2 fixture of the African Youth championship in Morocco. The Golden Eaglets, who trounced rivals Ghana 6- 1 in their opening match, are looking forward to qualifying for the semi final of the competition.
The team will be aiming be at the FIFA Under- 17 World Cup in UAE alongside host Morocco and Tunisia who defeated Botswana and Gabon on Tuesday to proceed to the AYC semifinal.
All eyes will be on the ever blazing striker, Success Isaac who helped himself to four goals against Ghana on Matchday 1.
The young forward explained that successful strikers like the late Rashidi Yekini, Samuel Eto'o were crucial in his development as a striker.
"Growing up my hero was Rashidi Yekini. His scoring abilities and determination to take Nigeria football to the highest level impressed me and I want to break his Nigeria senior team goal- scoring record and also take my country to the World Cup.
"I have watched Yekini's DVD and saw his great goals and that inspires me to do the same. I also admire Samuel Eto'o too, he is a great striker and I have always loved him wherever he plays and he proved at every club he played for that he can score goals and that for me is a striker.
"I would like to be a striker like him in that respect and want to prove in this under- 17 tournament that I am a striker," he told cafonline.com.
Ivory Coast drew 1- 1with Congo in their first match. Anything short of a win would send the Elephants out of this year's tournament.

‎JUST IN: 25year old DJ shot dead in Lagos

A 25-year-old DJ was shot dead broad day light at Bank Olemoh Street, Surulere, Lagos on Monday.

At about 2pm, Olamide George was with friends under a tree, popularly known as Abe Igi when four gun men came over and murdered him.

George's father, Gbolahan George, said:

"I was told that the assassins were four and were in Keke Maruwa (tricycle). They parked at the entrance of the street; two got down and walked to where Olamide was sitting with his friends. The one with the gun did not know him, so the other person who accompanied him pointed at Olamide.

"Immediately Olamide was identified, he was shot in the head and the chest."

"I was called around 2:30pm and was told that my son's body was at the morgue in Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. I reported the case at Area C Police Command."

"He is a DJ, and not a scammer. And he is very gentle and pleasant. He wanted to write JAMB and get into Lagos State University.

"Olamide was also about to wed his girlfriend, Yetunde Adeyeri, who is five months pregnant before his untimely death. And that was why I gave him N500, 000 to rent a one-room self-contained apartment at Apapa Road."

But reports claim some sources are suggesting a shady deal involving the deceased had gone wrong.

According to reports, two residents, who pleaded anonymity, said the deceased was an 'internet businessman'. One of them said the likely motivation for his assassination was a N2 million deal he just concluded.

Man arrested for having a 7month relationship with horse

A man was arrested after he was caught with his pants down in his neighbour's barn.

A horse owner saw a man, who was later identified as 47-year-old Tony Hall-Rivas, running from her barn. He was in the process of pulling his pants up. The woman became suspicious and she called police.

The woman contacted authorities because there was evidence that the man abused her horse. It took several months for the authorities to catch the man as he always ran away before they arrived.

Surveillance camera was set up in the barn. The video captured images of the man hiding in the barn and sexually assaulting horses. The sickening love affair lasted about seven months before the perp was caught.  The horse has long been castrated, according to the owner of the horse.

Police finally arrested the man after he left his DNA in a hat.
"I was upset when I heard someone defending people having sex with animals by saying that a man's personal life is no ones business. 'Some men like to be with women, some like be with men, while others like to be with animals, fighting for equal rights means equal for all,' some say," Jennifer Smith, 23, from Minneapolis, Minnesota told YourJewishNews.com after hearing about the incident.

Hall-Rivas, admitted to police that he had an affair with the horse for about seven months.  He also told police that the first time he tried to made love with the animal  the horse kicked him, according to local press reports.

Hall-Rivas was booked on charges of burglary, trespassing and sexual abuse of an animal. His bond was set at $2,000.
Sadly, this is not the first man who broke into a barn to made love with a horse. A while ago, Rodell Vereen, 50,  from South Carolina, was arrested for having sex with a horse. The elderly female owner caught him red handed and held him at gunpoint until police came to arrest him.

Etisalat man, Saka, now an MTN ambassador

If you watch TV regularly, you must have come across Nigerian actor Hafiz Oyetoro popularly called Saka.

The actor who easily switches from English to Yoruba movies, drama series and sitcoms is also popularly known for his roles in advertor campaigns from telecommunications company Etisalat.

But Saka seems to have changed camps and pitched his tent with rival company, telecoms giant MTN. A new MTN ad campaign tells us so.
MTN has kicked off theirtelevision commercial for the recently activated Number Portability Scheme with Saka gladly announcing he has upgraded to MTN.

The ad starts with Saka dressed in green traditional attire only to transform into a bright yellow attire as he leads a music band.
I don port o, I don port go MTN. I don upgrade to MTN, Saka sings and dances.

Advertising doesnt get more brutal than this, picture a popular face of a big brand, announcing to millions of consumers that hes switching camps and advising them to do so too!
Some are of the opinion that MTN made the desperate move, making Saka jump ship because the recently launched numberportability scheme might not favour them. MTN has often received a lot of black lash from consumers on Social media who have promised to leave the network once the scheme is launched. As we speak a bloggers forum is contemplating on creating a migrate away from MTN campaign.

Saka, sources say, got paid a mouth watering N20m. Who would resist the offer? Many questions however trail the move; didn't Saka have an exclusive contract with Etisalat or was he being paid per campaign?
While Etisalat cannot but face a minor setback before of course launching their own campaign (maybe hire MTN ambassadorsOsuofia and Mama G?), MTN will relish the moment. Saka however comes out as the biggest winner walki home with millions of cash and the hype

CONFUSED GOVERNMENT: CBN Plans To Change N5, N10, N20 and N50 from polymer to paper

CBN is poised to stop the printing of small denomination Naira in polymer notes because they fade quickly.
Its Deputy Governor, Mr Tunde Lemo, told newsmen on Sunday in Washington on the sideline of the ongoing Spring Meeting of the World Bank and the IMF.
By the middle of the year, we will start to produce the second generation of lower denomination notes, now in paper not in polymer.
My plea is that Nigerians should exercise patience with us; it wasnt the fault of the CBN, it was just because we had to go back to the drawing board to rethink `Project Cure in the light of the wish of the public that we should not go ahead with the N5000 notes and lower denomination.
We will correct that in the course of the year. Polymer certainly will be phased out. In fact, we are phasing out polymer. No new note is being printed in polymer now.
Lemo told NAN that when the CBN was going to introduce the polymer currencies, its search showed that they could last longer than ordinary paper notes.
However, with the benefit of hindsight, we probably should not have dumped polymer because, yes, the substrate lasts longer, but the in-consubstrate began to fade; we didnt realise that at the time of introduction.
So, part of `Project cure actually was actually to move away from polymer substrate to paper, unfortunately we had a push-back because of the issues around N5000 note and coins.
The entire program was put in abeyance, otherwise by now we should have stopped producing polymer.
He said that the CBN had awarded a contract for the printing of the higher denomination notes to a foreign company because of low capacity at the Nigerian Printing and Minting Company.
He said the CBN would begin to receive the fresh notes from June.
On the campaign on the careful handling of the naira, Lemo said that it was unfortunate that the campaign was not successful, but noted that it was a criminal act to abuse the naira going by the CBN Act.
Unfortunately, CBN is not a law enforcement institution; we left that in the hands of the law enforcement institutions and that has not kicked in.
I still go to parties and see people spraying money, stepping on money, I see touts distributing mint-fresh money that should go to customers.
Lemo also revealed that the CBN had talked to the police to step up its surveillance to reduce the abuse of the naira adding that the bank had no right to arrest people who sold the naira on the streets.
He said that the act of abuse and sale of the naira by touts had defeated the clean note policy of the bank, but assured that efforts were being made to tackle the problem.

Teenage robbers return iPhone because it's old model

TWO BERKELEY, California, teenagers allegedly tried to rob a woman of her iPhone last week but gave it back because it wasn't modern enough, police said.

The April 4 robbery was among a series allegedly committed by the two 17-year-old boys, who were arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of armed robbery after they were tracked down in Berkeley, police said.

One of the teens apparently held up the woman at gunpoint. He demanded her iPhone, which she handed over, police said. But when the teen found out it was an older-generation model, he returned it to her, police said.

That robbery happened several minutes after police responded to a man who had been robbed of his laptop and iPhone by two teens in his home, police said. The thieves kept that iPhone, police said.

Berkeley police nabbed the teens about two hours after they handed back the iPhone, police said. After three reported robberies in Berkeley, police spotted a vehicle the teens were driving and notified authorities that the teens were found in possession of the stolen items from the earlier robberies in El Cerrito, police said.

How my boobs popped out on stage- Omawumi

In a male dominated industry like the Nigerian music industry, first runner-up at the Idol West Africa, Omawumi Megbele, has proven to be a force to be reckoned with.

Some music critics in Nigeria have likened her to the legendary Onyeka Onwenu, who the singer did a duet with recently.

When it comes to dressing, Omawumi mostly rocks short gown which barely covers the whole of her thighs and at some instances, the shoulder region of her body is always exposed. This sometimes revealed her Tits. While some believe she does that intentional to stir controversies, others believe Omawumi is only proud being a woman, which she attests to in a recent interview.

Answering a question on why her Tits popped out at an event, the Delta State-born singer revealed that, "because I have small shoulders and my Titss are actually beautiful, I tend to wear revealing upper body dresses."

She added that, "when you are looking at the mirror, you are not well as tall as to see how troublesome it could be. That dress has feathers in the front of it and before I left my hotel room, I asked someone if the dress was okay and she said yes."

Continuing, Omawumi stressed that, "so, I wore the dress to the show and when I was performing at the show, of course, paparazzi took my pictures and released them. I realized that my Tits were practically pouring out of my dress, there was no way I could have put my Tits back."

Aunty Joke Silva's opinion on marriage

Joke Silva stated in a recent interview that Nollywood is not the only industry where divorce is rampant. It happens in every industry. She said a lot about it, read below;

"Is the rate of divorce in Nollywood worse than in other industries? Have you taken a census of what is happening with lawyers, doctors and nurses? You don't know. Everyone just blames the movie industry because we are the ones in the limelight.

Long surviving marriage is not exceptional in this industry. The thing is that, we are the ones that people know. Sony Irabor and Betty; John Momoh and Shola; and Bayo Oduneye have been married much longer. What of the late Justus and his wife? We have marriages that have stood the test of time just like you will find in other professions.
For me, since you love the person you get married to, both of you should work at it together. See it as your main responsibility once you get married.

Even before you get married, you should ask yourself, am I capable of making this person my total responsibility? That, am I willing to dedicate my time to making this person happy? It is a two way thing; it is not only the woman that is supposed to make the man happy, it is also for the man to make the woman happy. It is the two of you together and when you do that, it will work out well.

But if not, I don`t support emotional hardship just because you want to marry. God forbid bad thing! If it is not working, get out fast. If you don't know where you are going, you should know where you are coming from."

She is proud of me and I do let her understand that it's not that I don't want to marry, I just haven't found the right woman. If she finds the right one for me, she can call me.

PSY's new video, "Gentleman", banned

One of South Korea's national TV networks has decided not to air the latest music video from Psy, due to a scene that involves vandalism.

According to a statement released by the Korean Broadcasting System on Thursday, the International singer's new song ' Gentleman' has been ruled "inappropriate" for air because the rapper kicks a traffic cone at the beginning of it, Wall Street Journal reported.

"KBS's review standards ... are different from the Internet, online broadcasters or cable channels," it said.

"This is because network TV is watched by everyone regardless of gender and age. Infants or children haven't fully developed a standard for judgment and tend to believe and follow what's shown on television," the statement added.

Meanwhile, the video for the controversial song, which shows the 35-year-old rapper pulling pranks on women, is another viral hit, with more than 142 million views in the first five days after release.

A spokeswoman for Psy's agency YG Entertainment, said that the company has no plans to submit a different version of the video and "will follow KBS' decision." (ANI)

Ife Gbona: Man jailed for fondling 15-year-old sister's Breasts While She's Sleeping

A 28-YEAR-OLD man from Thungulula village in Filabusi has been sentenced to 48 months in jail after he sneaked into his 15-year-old sister's bedroom twice and fondled her bre*sts.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, pleaded not guilty to two counts of indecent assault when he appeared before Filabusi magistrate Mzingaye Moyo on Monday.
But the magistrate convicted him and sentenced him to an effective 48 months in jail.
Prosecutor Jethro Mada told the court that on March 28 at around 11pm, the man went to his sisters' bedroom when their parents, who are members of an apostolic sect, were attending a prayer meeting.
He found the girl and his other younger sister sleeping and sneaked into their blankets.
The man started fondling his sister's bre*sts and caressing her all over the body, which prompted her to wake up.
The girl tried to stop him, but he continued until she screamed. Her younger sister was woken up by the screams and the man fled.
On April 11, the man repeated the offence and the sisters told their parents about the abuse, leading his arrest.
The two girls testified against their brother with the abused girl revealing that he never allowed her to talk to other men.
"He was saying he wants to be my lover," the girl told the court.

SORRY: "Alex Song misses Aresenal, he isn't happy at Barca"- Rigobert Song

Rigobert Song has revealed that his cousin, Alex Song, is not happy at Barcelona and misses Arsenal.

The Camerounian left the Emirates last summer in a £17million deal and has made only 15 appearances for the Catalans – most of them from the bench or in lowkey matches.

"Barcelona put so much effort into signing him last summer, and Alex turned down many great teams in order to sign with them," Rigobert said.

"But this season he has only been a substitute. He is not happy.

"At Arsenal he was a leader on and off the field – he doesn't feel like this in Spain and it makes him feel bad."

Media reports say that the Gunners are looking at the possibility of bringing back the midfielder, with Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on new developments.

Offside musings- Oga At The Top: Not a Laughing matter

It was a bright Monday morning. Around 6:30am, I received a message on my phone which read thus: there is a job vacancy at MTN Nigeria Ltd. for Fresh graduates. Submit your CV via mtnrecruits@ymail.com but remember to add below your CV ``my Oga at the top". The message had no meaning to me as I wasn't searching for job. More confusing was the phrase my Oga at the top.

I thought it was a mistake not until I logged into my twitter account.99% of the tweets had the hash tag my Oga at the top I became more confused when I saw a tweet by Daddy Adeboye which read: "My Oga at the top says all will be well."

At this juncture I jumped out of bed and rushed to meet a neighbour of mine who also happens to be a social media guru like me. I told him and he bursted out, laughing at my obvious ignorance.

He had already downloaded the video on his blackberry phone. I sat down and watched with great disappointment how a commandant of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) of a great state like Lagos found it difficult to state the correct website of his organization. My friend continued laughing nevertheless.

I was so sad and disturbed; I kept re-echoing the question. What is NSCDC website? Even an illiterate knows that anything that deals with the internet ends with .com; .org etc.

♍Ɣ kid sister, who is 5yrs is fond of stating her facebook username as adesinagrace.com because of the .com in facebook website that she has put to memory that anything online must have a .com.

If my little sister can know this, then how do we explain a man in his fifties that has climbed more than 14levels in his career to reach an exalted post of a commandant in a law enforcement agency?

Many articles have been written on this issue. Quite a number have blamed the man's misfortune on Channels TV staff for exposing the man's inadequacies as he had avoided the question twice before being floored. Many, on the other hand have blamed the man for incompetence.

This writer in his own view believes that the Oga at the top shame is a welcome development.

Far away from the humor it creates it has exposed the level of illiteracy in our country, Nigeria. Over the years the number of school attendance is at its all time lowest; billions budgeted for education have been ruthlessly embezzled.

It must be stated here that an illiterate man is neither a man that can't read nor write but an illiterate is a man that doesn't developed himself outside his discipline and environment.

The high level moral decadence in our society has shown to us that all is not well with our nation. From the leaders to the followers, the traits are visible. The nation first lady Is famous for her stray bullets which lead to the presidential order banning her from being interviewed by journalists ditto the president who last year made a public show of shame while speaking on a national television with the word I don't give a damn to answer questions bothering on his declaration of assets.

So why are we capitalizing on Shem Obafaiye's little mistake which can't be compared to a more suicidal statement my fellow widows by Mrs. Patience among her other grammatical postulations?

As you're reading this and basking in the euphoria of the man's mistakes I will like to ask you these questions: When last did you read? When last did u surf the internet for information? When last did you read material outside your discipline?

Bishop David Oyedepo said: "What you read today will determine what will happen to you in future." The reading culture among us is dying.

As a student studying banking & finance. How many textbooks do you have on your course? How many bank histories do you know before making jest of that innocent man? If your views are sought on issues bothering on the weather and climate won't u decline comments and refer the questionnaire to Geography students?

We have all sorts of dresses and shoes in our wardrobes but only few of us have library containing books on different courses and authors. We can't spend 100,000 naira to buy books yet we buy blackberry phone of over 100,000 naira, which I see as a misplacement of priority.

Some of us don't even bother to read newspaper, novels, and anthologies from scholars including spiritual books. These acts of negligence have reduced our intellectual ability, thus reducing us to a walking corpses academically & morally.

The Oga at the top phrase shouldn't be seen as a joke; rather it should be a moment of examining the ills and wrongs in our public service. Some people have maneuvered their way to posts they are not qualified to. Be operating from. Even the recruitment to these government agencies are not advertised but they keep recruiting people through unholy means as witnessed in Central Bank Of Nigeria where over hundreds of people were employed without an advert!

Some people have used the influence of powerful people to secure admission into the university to study courses they are not qualified for including you!

The certificates are based on connections, connections & connections. Leaders at all levels should give their subordinates free hand to work and not taking orders from them all the time before acting on issues, especially petty ones. Otherwise we can justify Mr. Shem for saying he can't give a website and his Oga at the top will give another.

I submit that merit should be encouraged in all we do in this country. Look for the best hand to do a job and not appointing people based on ethnicity, political affiliation or religious background. Our working force should be trained and retrained because you can't get something from nothing. And each and every one of us should develop ourselves mentally and morally by reading anything in print that comes your way because no knowledge is a waste.

Nigerian teenager accused of brutally raping an 11-year-old girl in the UK

A teenager accused of snatching
an 11-year-old girl off the street
and repeatedly raping her today
claimed he is 'not capable of doing anything as despicable and heartless'.

Opemipo Jaji, 18, said at the time of the attack he was at a youth
club working on a backing track
for a song.

He told a jury at the Old Bailey: 'I wrote the song after I heard a girl killed herself from bullying. I
wrote the song hoping things
would get better.'

Jaji admits he was on the same
bus as the victim and got off at
the same stop.

But he claims he then went on to a youth club in Enfield, North
London, for a recording session.

The trainee chef said he went to
Jubilee Park later that evening ² compose music but left after 10
minutes because he saw police at the gate.
Jaji, of Edmonton, north London,
denies raping the girl in
November, last year.

The court heard the girl was
walking home from school when
she was dragged into the park and subjected to a three-hour rape ordeal.
She ran home and police were
called.

Traces of her blood were found on Jaji's white trainers and bag
which he says were from when he sat down on the grass later that evening.

Opemipo Jaji, 18, told an Old Bailey jury that when he previously mugged and sexually assaulted another schoolgirl in an almost identical attack two years earlier it had been 'childhood stupidity.'

The trainee chef claimed that
since the first attack he's been
forced to grow up, and was
planning to set up his own
catering firm. He also claimed he was to appear on BBC TV talent show The Voice.

The court heard Jaji accounts for every second of the day so he 'would not get into trouble.'
Jaji denies he was the rapist who grabbed the girl after she got off a bus and walked through a north London park on a Friday night last November.

The girl was forced to strip from
her school uniform and had a
woollen glove pushed in her
mouth to stop her screaming as
she was subjected to a terrifying three-hour ordeal.

Her injuries were so bad she had
to spend four days in hospital.
The jury were told just 21 months earlier, aged 16, Jaji grabbed a schoolgirl from a bus stop, dragged her to a secluded area on a housing estate, stripped her of her school uniform and used her school tie to gag her.
He later pleaded guilty to robbery and sexual assault.
Today, Jaji said: 'It was just
childhood stupidity.

'Since I've been in prison and out, I've been forced to grow up.
'Since then I have sorted myself
out. I got an apprenticeship as a
chef while being paid £10 an hour, I was two weeks from starting ♍Ɣ own catering business. I was suppose to be on The Voice TV show on BBC.

'I am just not capable of doing
something as despicable and
heartless as this. To be honest, I
don't know what to say.'

'I have done everything to keep
myself out of trouble. Every single day of my week is planned out ² the letter by me.

That's just because I don't really like too much free time because you get into trouble.'

He told the jury he had been on a bus with the schoolgirl and had handed her back her travel pass when it fell to the floor,
explaining why his fingerprints
were on it.

He also said he went inside Jubilee Park later that evening to compose music in his 'favourite spot' but left after 10 minutes because he saw police at the gate.

He explained blood belonging to
the girl found on the inside of his boxer shorts, around the crotch and zip area of his trousers, on and inside his upper long johns, t- shirt, polo shirt, trainers and on his Adidas sports bag must have been picked up when he sat down on the grass.

However, the jury heard when
police searched Jaji's home they
found a book on his bunk bed
called "Nobody Cares" about a
little girl who is repeatedly raped.

Also on his bed was a picture of a seven-year-old dressed in tennis clothes cut out and pasted on a piece of cardboard. They alsofound a page of small ads searching for childminder.
Rosina Cottage, prosecuting,
accused Jaji of wanting case to go to trial so he could watch the girl having to relive her ordeal.
He replied: 'What does that do for me exactly?'

Ms Cottage said: 'You are sexually interested in very little girls and manipulate and control them.

'What better way than to control a little girl than make her come to
court and give evidence? So you
could watch the DVD and how she explained what you have done to her.'

Jaji replied: 'I have not committed this crime.'

She accused Jaji of not being able to 'resist' attacking the girl when he followed her off the bus and it was 'no coincidence' she was repeatedly raped at his 'favourite' spot inside the park.
He says he handed the schoolgirl her travel pass when it fell to the floor which explains why his fingerprints were found on it.

Jaji of Osward Place, Edmonton,
north London, denies a single
count of rape.
The trial continues.

Gold mine collapse in Ghana kills workers

At least 16 bodies confirmed dead
in Ghana gold mine collapse that
occurred near the town of
Kyekyewere, north of capital
Accra.

A mine has collapsed in Ghana's
central gold-producing region
killing at least 16 people who
were working illegally and had
been told to leave by the
operator, local police have said.
A total of 16 bodies were
recovered from the site of the
incident near the town of
Kyekyewere on Monday
afternoon, according to area
police commander William Otu.
The town is about 300km north
of the capital Accra.

The operator had completed its
work in the area and had
returned only to shut down the
mine and affirm its claim to the
land, Otu added, without
identifying the company.
Otu said the operator found
several people from the local
community mining illegally, who
refused when asked to leave.
Not long after, "the operator got
information that the mine caved
in and covered the people," the
police commander said.

The west African nation of about
25 million people is one of the
world's top gold exporters.
Many of the mining operations
revolve around unlicensed – and
hence illegal – outfits, known
locally as galamsey, which are
often funded by foreign
speculators and criminals.

According to an Al Jazeera
investigation, some of the
operators even employ children,
and pay less than six US dollars a
day, in "primitive" working
conditions.
