Kidnapping Training School Uncovered in Delta state

Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta state, Nigeria, weekend, explained why
he would not sign into law, the Bill passed by the state House of
Assembly, prescribing death penalty for kidnappers, describing the
Bill as a duplication of efforts.

He also said that a school for training of kidnappers had been
uncovered in the state.

Speaking at Unity Hall at Government House, Asaba,  on questions posed
to him at a town hall meeting during the visit of the Good Governance
tour team, led by Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, to the
state, he said:  "As a state government, we have been dealing with
kidnapping. Presently, we have been able to identify some hot spots in
the state, what are called the red spots, where kidnappers are
trained. We have identified those areas.

"We are strategising on security for those areas and that is why, in
the last few weeks, you could see that the incidence of kidnapping has
gone down. There are other strategies we are still working on to deal
with kidnapping, which I cannot disclose here.

"Another question is, why are we having issues with death penalty for
kidnappers? There is already a death penalty in our laws. Every
kidnapper is an armed robber, I believe, so I don't know why we are
talking today of death penalty for kidnappers. When you go to court,
the case is usually kidnapping/armed robbery. Why do I have to sign
another law for kidnappers?

"Once you are a kidnapper, you are also an armed robber. The law is
already there to sentence kidnappers to death. And I must say that in
this state, in the last few months, our judges have been bold enough
to convict many kidnappers. They are working hard to sentence more
kidnappers."

CRAZY: Man spends 11 Million Naira To Look Like Britney Spears

A young man was a great fan of Britney Spears and went under the knife
to prove it. Kara Nicole Hays spent approximately $70,000 to get the
look of Britney Spears the news media reported.

The 26-year-old believes that the surgery cost about $30,000, the
remainder went to therapy, hormones, clothing, cosmetics and
everything else he needed to make the transition.

Hays said that his face is all natural and any resemblance to Spears
is a lucky coincidence. "I never had facial reconstruction to look
like a celebrity," he said.

Hays, who went by the name of Kodywhile growing up in a staunchly
conservative area of Southeastern Ohio, said Spears's music brought
him comfort in difficult times.

"Britney was a person who helped me through depression," he said.
"Dancing to Britney's videos also helped me lose weight and feel
better about myself."

Hays told the news media that he faced a lot of toxic attitudes in his
small town. He said his family had trouble accepting initially that he
wanted to live his life as a girl.

They feared a backlash from narrow-minded neighbors. "It was not until
we brought in doctors and psychiatrists when they finally grasped the
situation," he said.

Things were not easy in school either. Hays said that although he was
allowed to enter school as a girl, there was no great storybook ending.

"I was nominated to the court of honor probably as a joke, but my name
had to be removed," he said. "The school officials had to personally
come to my house to ask my mom and I about me being removed in the
fear of controversy inthe small town."

He said he played "low profile" in high school because of "death threats."

Chei!: U.N. Calls to Legalize Prostitution Worldwide

A report published by the U.N. backed World Commission on HIV and the
law, recommends that nations around the world get rid of "punitive"
laws against prostitution – or what it calls "consensual s*x work" and
decriminalize the voluntary use of injecting illegal drugs in order to
combat the HIV epidemic.

The commission, which consists of 15 former heads of state, lawyers
and activists against HIV AIDS was convened in 2010 by the Secretary
General Ban Ki-Moon, and is co-supported by the Development Program
United Nations UNAIDS JointUnited Nations Program on AIDS / HIV.

The commission recommended repealing all laws that prohibit the "work
of adult consensual s*x" and a clear distinction in law and
practicebetween s*x trafficking and prostitution.

The report "HIV and the Law: Risks, Rights and Health" cites a
recommendation of the InternationalLabor Organization, which
recommends that "s*x work" shouldbe recognized as an occupation to be
regulated "so that it protects workers and customers. "

Specifically, the Commission wants to,"Decriminalize consensual
private s*xual behavior, including adults engaging in same s*x acts
and all voluntary s*x work."

REVEALED: How Beyonce and Jay Z became poverty alleviation programs for Bayelsians

SaharaReporters has uncovered a document indicating that a million
dollars of Bayelsa State's poverty alleviation fund was spent by then
Governor Goodluck Jonathan on bringing American entertainers Beyonce
andJay Z to Nigeria in 2006.

In a letter stamped and signed by Bayelsa officials, N150 million
(approximately a million dollars in 2006) was released from the
state's poverty alleviation fund for the first ThisDay Music Festival
in Lagos.

The document came to light after a controversy was ignited over how
much money American "reality TV" star Kim Kardashian was paid for a
brief visit to Nigeria.

Ms. Kardashian, star of a US TV show about her idle rich family and
who shot to international fame after a sex tape featuring her and her
rapper boyfriend went viral, wasreportedly paid half a million dollars
for the 24-hour-visit last week.

The sources who provided the 2006 document for Beyonce and Jay Z's
visit told Saharareporters that there was a shady financial link
between the producers of some high profile entertainment events and
the governors and other officials who control budgets at the state and
federal levels. Mr. Obaigbena's newspaper, ThisDay, is a major sponsor
of entertainment events that brings US music stars as well as top
public figures for flying visits to Nigeria in exchange for gargantuan
paychecks.

"Mr. Obaigbena often lines up financial bonanzas from numerous
governors, ministers and other top government officialsto finance his
jamborees," said one of the sources who is based in the UK and is
knowledgeable about such deals.

SaharaReporters obtained a letter from Mr. Obaigbena to the Bayelsa
State government soliciting funds from the oil-producing state ahead
of Nigeria's 46th independence celebrations in 2006. The publisher
wrote, "We invite you to partner with us as co-hosts of the festival."
The letter added: "With a total budget of $10 million, the co-host is
expected to contribute a minimumof $2.5 million (two million five
hundred thousand USD)."

At the bottom of the letter, minuted by hand and signed by then
Governor Jonathan's aides as well as the Bayelsa State accountant
general are the words, "Release N150,000,000.00 (One hundred and fifty
million naira) only to be drawn from the poverty alleviation subhead."

One source told SaharaReporters that Mr. Obaigbena sent similar
letters to other south-south states.

SaharaReporters could not ascertain how much of the released funds was
paid directlyto performers at the festival. There is no indication
that Beyonce, one of the few entertainment stars internationally
famous enough to only need one name, was aware that her performance
was being subsidized by the poor people of Bayelsa.

But during Beyonce's celebrated rendition ofthe Nigerian national
anthem, pictures of Bayelsa State were projected onto the wall ofthe
Lagos concert venue.

According to the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, 47% of Bayelsans live
in poverty. The World Bank says that per capita gross domestic product
in the Niger Delta is significantly below the country's average.
According to the state's own 2005 development strategy, 80% of rural
communities have no access to safe drinkingwater, a key indicator in
judging poverty. In Yenagoa, the state capital and Bayelsa's largest
urban area, an estimated two out of every five residents do not have
access to safe drinking water.

In 2005, as part of its UN-approved strategy to combat poverty, the
state promised to make a fund of N100 million available as softloans
and micro-credit to Bayelsans. The allocated fund was N50 million less
than Mr. Jonathan approved for Mr. Obaigbena's music festival. That
promise was made in the Bayelsa State Economic Empowerment and
Development Strategy, published by the United Nations Development
Program and signed by then Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. A civil
rights activist in Yenogoa told SaharaReporters that the state "has
been a woeful failure in its poverty reduction program."

The letter from Mr. Obaigbena to then-governor Goodluck Jonathan said
the concert was necessary to show that the news from Nigeria was "not
just…HIV/AIDS, conflicts, poverty, kidnapping, strife and riots."

The publisher added: "This is the longest ever period of democracy in
Nigeria, over seven years and counting! And a stable democracy means
more investment and economic prosperity for all."

The publisher went on to give reasons why the state government should
contribute to the concert.

The stars' performances would "tell the world, through music, that
Nigeria's time hascome," Mr. Obaigbena wrote. The letter added, "And
once the good news catches onwith the young and upwardly mobile, music
loving new generation it will catch on with the world of investments
and bountiful opportunities."

GOLDIE: Family wants Denrele invited for questioning over death of singer

The last good glimpse Nigerians had of Goldie was of her photos on the
red carpet of the 55th Grammy Awards, where she appeared as a woman
full of life.
Her death four days later on Valentine's Day was one hell of a shock
for her fans, friends and family. Her demise evoked a volcano of mixed
feeling as many haters tookto the social media to further hex the soul
of the deceased.

In the wake of the Valentine's Day tragedy, damning reports began to
emerge: drugs, hedonism, a little-known marriage, and
husband-snatching allegations.

Goldie's untimely death stirred a storm of controversies that cannot
simply be wished away. The big question revolves around her marriage.
Before her death, if you'd ask showbiz followers about Goldie'smarital
status, two out of three responses would be "single."

The remaining would be "no idea." Ithardly occurred to anyone outside
her close circle that the Harvey surname she was bearing was not a
stage but her marriage name. Indeed, the Skibobo singer created a
cloud of deceit around her marital status. During press conferences,
questions about her marital status were curtly cut off.

On Facebook, Goldie's marital status was inconclusive. "Single" but
not searching and an occasional vague affirmation that she was "in a
relationship," was all Goldie offered as explanation for her marital
status.

Many did not know Goldie wedded let alone, married a white man. Now a
certain Andrew Harvey, a Briton, has announced himself, by uploading
photos of their wedding that proved beyond doubt the verity of their
2005 wedding. So Goldie was married?

Really?

At the BBA Stargame, Goldie was viewed through the lens of a single
girl. Against this new background, you begin to wonder, what the hell
was a 30-year-old woman with a seven-year-old marriage doing in the
wild, whimsical house of the Big Brother Africa, where s*x can happen
at a short notice? Then you begin to wonder, where was Mr. Andrew
Harvey when Goldie was gallivanting with Prezzo?

A married Goldie flirted and got cosy with Prezzo, going as far as
kissing him. For a married woman, that was so un-African.

Even outside the BBA, her love chess with Prezzo continued. There were
strong indications that at the time of her death, the Nigerian pop
diva and the Kenyan rapper were still love interests.

One doesn't have to be a Sherlock Holmes to deduce that the marriage
was not the made-in-heaven picture Mr. Harvey is now painting. Now
Harvey is not making Goldie a saint as much as he is further casting
aspersion on her image as a married wife.

Toxic reports in the wake of her shocking departure insinuated that
Goldie's was into drugs. These allegation, debunked by close pals, are
just mere conjectures.

What is common knowledge was that her friendship with Denrele Edun,
the eccentric Channel O presenter, who also happened to be her
business partner and co-presenter of their impending reality show, was
not ordinary.

Now talking about Denrele, the initialstory was that Goldie died in
Denrele's arms. The question is: where, in the house, or on the way to
the hospital, because the hospital declared the singer dead on
arrival. There had been different accounts about Goldie's last
minutes. The stories, sketchy but riddled with inconsistencies.

So who is going to give us a blow-by-blow account of the last minute,
including the names of people who were there? One report said her
brother was in the house with her. When her apartment at No 30B Ologun
Kufere Street Parkview Estate, Ikoyi, Lagos, was visited the
following day, the apartment was deserted save for a weeping househelp
who went in, packed her two suitcases and fled from the house.

Then you ask again a whole lot of questions: What is the police doing
about it? Where are her family members?

The autopsy report indicated that Goldie died of hypertension. But the
public needs to know the back story, particularly, the details of the
last few minutes before her death. What, where, when, how, and who
were the eye-witnesses?
Questions, questions, questions. It is better to let the dead to rest
in peace. And in this clime, we do not speak ill of the dead. But this
has to be said about the late entertainer: Goldie lied to us. It is
no crime for a celebrity to keep her marital life out of the public
radar – Onyeka Onwenu did it successfully. A stern
I-am-married-but-my-marriage-is-not-a-matter-for-discussion response
from Goldie would have been enough.

Goldie misinformed us by her utterance, she misled us by her actions.
She owed us an apology, even in death.
An insider, who spoke with us recently, said the family of Goldie
wants the Police to invite Denrele, forquestioning, since he claimed
that their hale and hearty daughter died in his arms. "This I can tell
you is the family's position.

They want Denrele to tell them and the world the circumstances that
led to Goldie's death", disclosed this insider who does not want his
name in print.

Royal Rumble: Stella Damasus Lambasts Nollywood Actress, Lola Alao After Saying “It Is Okay For Single Ladies To Date Married Men”

Lola who has been involved in a few controversies in the movie
industry is quoted to have said some very shocking words and i have
been waiting for her denial and it hasn't come…that means she did say
it and i am gladly sending her this memo.

Lola is quoted to have advised single girls thus:
"Let me explain something to you; where are the single guys? They are
there and not ready to marry.

If the single guys are not ready then the next available option should
be taken. I believe one should go for whatever makes one happy.

If a married man is the one that will make you happy, please go for
it. I know married women would be angry with me but it is the truth of
the matter."

Now Stella Damasus replied:

Lola Alao are you for real?
Why don't you first find a man to marry you and advise your single
friends to go for him?

Are you trying to justify that you are dating a married man?
Why should another woman's husband make you happy Lola?
Why are you advising young ladies to covet other peoples property?

Are you not supposed to be an ambassador that will affect her
environment positively?
If the young men out there are not ready, whatever happened to being patient?

This advice just shows how irresponsible you are … .I pray that God
will never allow that married man you are dating to marry you. May God
open his eyes to see you for what you are and may he return home in
thanksgiving to his wife.

Young ladies please do not listen to this advice..it is from the pit of hell!"

What do you have to say about this folks?

HOLY ANGER: Pastor Taribo West to Osaze: "Shut up and focus on your career!"

Osaze, it would be recalled has been notorious of late for his
controversialTwitter rants which have pitted him against football
administrators in Nigeria and in his club.

Osaze recently slammed football administrators in the country for
failing to "treat former internationalsright" and cited late striker
Rashidi Yekini, Femi Opabunmi and Taribo West as examples.

"Yekini, (may his soul RIP) our legend died in poverty…Femi Opabunmi
lost his sight and struggling to feed now…T. West I heard not so
comfortable and few others," Osaze twitted.

The dread-locks wearing footballer turned pastor, replied the
England-based player on Thursday saying, "It is embarrassing to read
such comments about me in the newspapers. The last time he probably
saw me was in 2008, so what does he know about me?

"Have I asked him for money before? God has been kind to me and my
ministry and I have not begged anybody for money. I am doing well; I
am not broke and never will be till Christ comes. In Christ, I have
everything, so I am not lacking. I think he has lost track and needs
to get himself together.

"He should shut up and focus on his career instead of insulting his
seniors all the time. He needs to respect his elders. His utterances
smacks of indiscipline and unprofessionalism. He should apologise to
everyone he's been abusing on Twitter because if he continues like
this, he will not go far."

Taribo, who had an illustrious career playing for Italian giants AC
Milan andInter Milan, advised Osaze to "come home and fight those who
are not helping the footballers" instead of staying on Twitter from
his base in England and claiming to be "fighting for ex-players."

"How many ex-footballers has he helped? How can he stay in England and
fight for a cause in Nigeria? He should join his seniors and fight for
their cause because his approach has no foundation," Taribo added.

Women on rampage: Women Demonstrate in Support of N4 Billion African First Ladies Peace House

Women and youths from different organizations yesterday staged a
peaceful demonstration in support of the proposed N4 billion African
First Ladies Peace Mission Secretariat in Abuja.

The groups, numbering over 3,000 carried placards with various
inscriptions such as"Abuja has come to stay; FCT is Working; Nigerian
Women Support African First Ladies Peace Mission; Young Women
Entrepreneurs Support African Peace Mission."

The women embarked on a protest match from Women Development Centre,
Abuja through Tafawa Balewa Way and later submitted a letter to the
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed for
onward submission to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Speaking at the occasion, Nancy Godwin Bulus, President National
Council of Women Societies (NCWS), explained the rationale behind the
protest, stressing that it was meant to drum support for the building
of the African First Ladies Peace Mission Secretariat in Abuja.
According to her, it is a"unique project, which all Nigerian women
want. We are appealing to the National Assembly to approve the budget
for the project. It is an honour to have the project situated in
Nigeria and all Nigerian women and children stand to benefit a lot
from it," she said.

In their separate remarks at the occasion, Mrs. Uchenna Adekunle, Mrs.
Felicia Sani andMurtala Mohammed Tanko, Leaders of Hairdressers and
Barbers Association of Nigeria, Market Women Association and Youths
Association in Gwagwa, FCT, respectively, expressed support for the
choice of Abuja as the host of the Peace Mission Secretariat, pointing
out that the First Lady, Dame Jonathan will not take the building to
Bayelsa after leaving office."Anything that concerns women in this
country is always treated with kid gloves, it is not fair. The Act
that created FCDA mandates it to erect public buildings on behalf of
the Federal Government for use byall ministries, departments and
agencies. FCDA built Women Development Centre, National Hospital and
others; so, why must African First Ladies Peace Mission House be
different?" one of the leaders asked.

Addressing the protesters, FCT Minister Senator Bala Mohammed, who
said that he had to be excused from the Federal Executive Council
meeting at the Aso Villa to receive the group, expressed appreciation
for their orderly conduct, just as he assuredthem that the Jonathan
administration was not working for the "egocentric, academic and other
opposition politicians who used jargons to deceive and delude
Nigerians."

EXCLUSIVE- Wizkid vs. Banky W: The sharing formula

Facts have begun to emerge regarding the real story behind Wizkid and
Banky is fallout. The reason is not unconnected with the rising
sensational singer being made a cash cow for the EME label.

An Insider opened up to Entertainment Rendezvous that Wizzy (his
nickname) is at war with Banky W and EME because he wants a contract
review which Banky W has refused to grant him.

The source pointed out that since Ayodeji Balogun known as Wizkid
signed with EME, he has been getting just 25% from whateverhe gets
paid to perform at an event with Banky W. Empire Mate Entertainment
EME is owned by Banky W and Segun Demuren, and Osagie Wizzy's
ex-manager who introduced him to Banky after big record labels like
Mo-Hits and Storm records rejected him, alsogets 25% each from his
hard earned money.

"It is true they are having problems and this might just be the end of
EME and Wizkid. When Wizzy signed a 2-year contract with EME late in
2009, he saw Banky as his messiah because he was nobody in the music
industry.

It was a 50-50 sharing formula.
Then Wizkid didn't mind because he was bent on building his musical
career. In his contract, Banky W promised to take care of his
accommodation, feeding and also his school and based on this fact,
Wizkid accepted all the terms of agreement. Later, Wizzy sacked his
manager, Osagie replacing her with Godwin because he felt she was
getting too much. Wizkid was getting just 25% from every show because
Banky W would take 50% while Osagie was taking 25%.

Wizzy sacked Osagie because she was not ready to receive 10% which
other management companies were taking from artistes. This development
obviously did not go down well with Banky W but because Wizzy was
close to the end of his contract with EME, Banky gave in.

When Wizkid's contract expired late last year, he wanted a contract
review requesting the 50-50 sharing formula to be reviewed to 70-30
butBanky would not accept his proposal.

This issue had been dragging since September 2012 and that could have
explained why Wizkid moved out of Banky's Ogudu GRA residence and got
a new apartment in Lekki. What got Wizzy miffed was that he was making
all the money for EME and was getting less. Also, the money being made
was being used to finance the project of other EME stars namely,
Niyola, Skales and Shaydee."

Apparently Wizkid's international fame gave him more confidence to
stand out on his own. Riding on this platform, he signed a management
deal with Disturbing London, an international management company.
Right now, his second Album is ready and it is with Banky W. Wizzy is
bent on leaving if they don't agree with his terms and float his own
label STARBOI Records.

Banky W may not have given their side of thestory but insiders noted
that Banky has spent a lot to make Wizkid who he is now. He feels
Wizkid is not grateful and has forgotten where he was coming from.

ON THE RUN: RICHARD MOFE DAMIJO (RMD) EMBEZZLES 50MILLION, HIDES FROM EFCC

RMD is reported to have played a role in a financial scheme which made
N50M to disappear. Mr. Mofe Damijo issued a check to the tourism board
in the name of its acting GM, Ms. Ajufo. She in turn reportedly
deposited the sum into her First Bank private account operated under
her name, Nkem Philo Ajufo. well, according to claims, she and Mr.
Mofe Damijo subsequently shared the money.

RMD went underground on learning about the current development. Read
the full story when you continue....
Philo Nkem Ajufo, the acting General Manager of Delta State Tourism
Board, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) in Abuja over her role in a financial scheme. Ms.
Ajufo is reportedly being quizzed for conniving with her boss, Richard
Mofe Damijo (RMD), to embezzle N50 million from the state Ministry of
Culture and Tourism. Mr. Mofe Damijo, a well known Nollywood star, is
the commissioner in charge of the ministry. Our EFCC said the
commissioner was also being sought by the anti-corruption agency, but
hehas been elusive.
An EFCC source confirmed Ms. Ajufo's arrest. "As we talk, the Delta
State Tourism GM, one Mrs. Nkem Ajufo, is been held in our
headquarters here in Abuja over her involvement in the N50 million
fraud.

Her boss, Mr. Richard Mofe Damijo, is not left out but as we speak he
is still avoiding us," said the source.

Two sources at the ministry told our reporter that the EFCC last week
delivered a letter inviting Ms. Ajufo to appear at their headquarters.
She was reportedly asked to bring along relevant documents concerning
the N50 million that was meant for the purported 2007 Delta Expo event
which never held.

The sources disclosed that Mr. Mofe Damijo went underground on
learning about the current development.
One source told our reporter that the commissioner, who is reported to
be building himself a massive underground edifice in Lagos, was trying
to use political contacts in Delta and Abuja to scuttle the EFCC's
investigation and washed his hands off the scam.

SaharaReporters learnt that Mr. Mofe Damijo denied knowledge of the
money during the budget defense exercise.
Several calls and sms texts sent to Mr. Damijoand Ms. Ajufo's mobile
lines were not answered. After a while, the commissioner switched off
his mobile phone.

Late last year, Saharareporters had broken the news of the N50 million
allegedly embezzled by the commissioner and the acting GM of the
state's tourism board.
Several sources in the commissioner's office had confided that a
former commissioner in the Ministry had applied for the N50 million to
organize the "Delta State Expo 2007," disclosing that the state could
not release the funds then due to some financial challenges.

However, when the funds were released into the Tourism account in May,
2012, Mr. Mofe Damijo allegedly said that the ministry could no longer
carry out the event since it had elapsed by six years and Deltans
would have forgotten about the event.

But our reporter obtained "Forms of Advance Warrant" on release of
funds from the Ministry of Finance indicating that the N50 million was
supposed to be spent on the original event for which it was
approved.The warrant order, numbered 00000117, 00000114 and 00000115,
was signed by one Ms. P.O. Evuojapha for the Commissionerof Finance.

SaharaReporters learnt that N35 million of the N50 million was
supposed to have gone to the tourism board.

2015: Jonathan never signed one-term agreement – Presidency

The presidency has challenged PDP governors to produce any document signed by president Goodluck Jonathan limiting him to a one term presidency.
Ahmed Gulak, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs spoke on an African Independent Television (AIT) programme yesterday maintaining that the president can not be intimidated away from contesting the elections.
Niger state governor, Babangida Aliyu had on Saturday, on a Liberty FM radio programme, said President Goodluck Jonathan signed an agreement with PDP governors not to seek re-election in 2015.
Gulak, however, insisted this is not true. He said Aliyu’s staement was borned out of his ambition to contest for the same position in the next general elections.
Gulak said, “I’m telling you without any iota of doubt and with all sense of responsibility that there has never been any agreement or pact signed by the President that he is going to run for only one term. He has never told me about it and I have never heard about it. The governors said they have the agreement, let them bring it. I know as of fact that there is no such agreement.”
“We are all Nigerians and if you want to pursue your own ambition, like I have always said, you have the right. You have the right to pursue your ambition to be the President of Nigeria. But you don’t have to concoct stories to justify your ambition.
“President Jonathan never signed such a pact, but only gave Nigerians the general guarantee of one-man, one-vote and that no one has the political strength to intimidate the President to run away from his constitutional right of contesting the next elections, should he decide to do so.”
According to Punch Newspapers report:
Meanwhile, investigations on Tuesday showed how the purported single-term of four years accord the President had with the PDP governors was reached.
It was learnt that the four-year deal was backed by the leadership of the party on August 13, 2010 at the meeting of the National Executive Committee, which was held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The PUNCH learnt that the decision to grant Jonathan one more term then was predicated on the tension created in the party after the death of former President Umaru Yar’Adua.
Governors and some prominent leaders from the north were then insisting that the north must be allowed to complete its eight-year rule like Obasanjo did.
The PDP leaders had reportedly agreed to allow President Goodluck Jonathan contest the 2011 elections so as to continue with the joint-ticket he had with late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua.
The report continued thus:
The then National Publicity Secretary of the party, Prof. Rufai Alkali, who announced the party’s decision after the NEC meeting, however, said other aspirants would not be disallowed from contesting with the President for the party’s sole ticket.
Alkali had said, “NEC took time to review the origin and essence of the zoning principle as enshrined in the PDP Constitution. In view of historical antecedents and contemporary realities and in order to ensure justice, equity and fairness, NEC unanimously endorsed the retention of the zoning principle in the PDP Constitution.
“NEC also observed that President Goodluck Jonathan is serving out the first four year term of the joint ticket with the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and therefore has the right to contest the remaining four-year term of their joint ticket in 2011.
“NEC however resolved that this will not of course exclude any other Nigerian from any part of the country from contesting the Presidential primaries for the 2011 general elections.”
The NEC was persuaded by the former chairman of the party, Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, who canvassed for the understanding of the party to allow the President run for election.
The motion for the adoption of the chairman’s speech in which he marshalled his reason, was moved by the Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, and seconded by the former chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih.
Before NEC passed the resolution, a former Governor of old Bendel State, Dr. Samuel Ogbemudia,  had also interceded for the President.
The former governor was said to have argued that that he was enlisted in the army based on zoning.
He was also said to have informed his audience that the killing of General Murtala Muhammed in the 1975 coup led to the emergence of General Olusegun Obasanjo as the Head of State.
This action, he said, led to the promotion of Lt. Col. Shehu Musa Yar’Adua to the rank of a Major-General, which enabled him to become the number two citizen.
The PDP NEC was said to have been swayed by these arguments in favour of Jonathan which led them to allow the president run in the last presidential elections.
Before the closed-door meeting, Nwodo had argued that since both the late President and Jonathan came into power with a joint ticket, he said it was better for the party to allow Jonathan carry on with the ticket in the absence of Yar’Adua.
He had also cited the case of Adamawa State where the former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was picked as the running mate to Obasanjo; he forfeited his position as the governor-elect to his then running mate, Boni Haruna.
He said that when Haruna completed the tenure of Atiku in 2003, he also contested the governorship election again in 2007 without the party complaining.
Nwodo said that despite the numerous court cases by his traducers, Haruna came out of these cases triumphantly.
However, none of the members of the current NWC was ready to speak on the matter.
Investigations by our correspondents indicated that the members considered it as too delicate to dabble in, especially when the rumblings in the party were already causing problem among its members.
A member of the NWC, who spoke with one of our correspondents on condition of anonymity, said the President was aware that there was a pact between him and the party in 2010.
“There is no way the President would have kept quiet over such a sensitive issue if he had no such pact with the governors,” the member said.

Treating my f**k up: “Obasanjo sacked me because I told him I’m his party leader, not his cook” – Ogbeh

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief
Audu Ogbeh, had disclosed on Saturday that his decision to call the
bluff of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo precipitated his removal
asthe party boss.

Ogbeh, now a stalwart of the Action Congress ofNigeria (ACN),
disclosed this at a meeting of the Benue State expanded executive
council of the party in Makurdi, that on one occasion, he told the
former president after a confrontation that he was not his boy and
must be treated as the then party Chairman.

According to him, "One day, I summed up courage and confronted
Obasanjo at a meeting. I told him point blank that Mr. president, I am
not your cook but your party chairman, so you talk to me with
respect."

At the meeting which was held to discuss the merger of ANPP, ACN, APGA
and CPC, Ogbeh said he asked Obasanjo to show the party leadership
some respect, reminding him that when others were building the party,
he was in prison and should stop kicking people around.

This, according to Ogbeh, did not go down well with the former
Presidentwho later masterminded his removal as the PDP Chairman.

He assured ACN members that its merger with APGA, CPC and ANPP will
work and that APC will be sure of victory over the PDP come 2015.

"Let me also assure you that APC will send PDP out of power in 2015," he said.
He lamented the present level of corruption in Jonathan's led
administration, asserting that it is the only thriving sector in the
country.

" When I was chairman of PDP, my son never got involved in oil but two
national chairmen after me, their sons pocketed over N400 billion
without supplying a tea cup of oil."

He added, "Chairman of Pension TaskForce Team is going about with
20policemen yet they are deceiving the people that he has escaped. He
may have donated the money to fund the party's campaign, so he's
untouchable."

Also speaking, Senate Minority leader,Senator George Akume, reaffirmed
that the merger was on course and advised ACN members to disregard
rumours that it will not work.

He noted that beginning the merger with 11 Governors was clearly a
remarkable achievement.

"I died and came back to life"- Patience Ebele Jonathan

First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, Sunday, said she died and woke up
during the periodof her ailment which necessitated her absence from
the country for almost three months.

In a thanksgiving service at the state House chapel in Abuja, the
first lady said prayers offered by Nigerians sustained her while some
people who had taken her for dead had began selling her properties.

According to her, she underwent seven surgery operations within one
month and the doctors had given up hope on her survival.
She said: "I remember when Chief Obasanjo was the President of the
country, I was close to his late wife, Stella. We worshiped together
in this chapel.

"It was a painful moment for me that time when she died and her corpse
was brought here.

"That was how my corpse would have been brought here. It was not an
easy experience for me. I actually died, I passed out for more than a
week. My intestine and tummy were opened.

"I am not Lazarus but my experience was similar to his. My doctors
said all hope was lost.

"A black doctor in London who is with us in this service was flown in
when the situation became critical. It was God himself in His infinite
mercy that said I will return to Nigeria. God woke me up after seven
days.

"I know that some people somehow leaked the information that I was
dead. They are people that I trust and rely on; to them, I was dead
and I would never return to the countryalive. Some of them even sold
my things off.

"I won't say everything here. It is the Lord's doing that I returned
alive. When God says yes, nobody can say no.

"People are always afraid of operation (surgery) but in my own case,
while my travail lasted, I was begging for it (surgery) after the
third operation because I was going to the theatre everyday.

"It was God who saw me through. I did eightor nine operations within
one month. It was not an easy one.

Crazy Olympian: Blood-Stained Cricket Bat Found By Police At Oscar Pistorius’ Home

The murder case filed against Olympic star Oscar Pistorius by the
South African police has taken a newturn as the police have found a
bloodied cricket bat at the home of Oscar Pistorius, a local newspaper
reported Sunday, following the Valentine's Day killing of his model
girlfriend.

The star Olympian and Paralympian athlete was charged on Friday with
the murder of 29-year-old Reeva Steenkamp who was shot dead at his
luxury Pretoria home, an incident Pistorius has denied was not
premeditated as suggested by the police.

Police sources close to the investigation told the independent City
Press newspaper that Steenkamp's skull had been "crushed".

"There was lots of blood on the bat,"one source told the paper.
Police are now investigating whetherthe bat was used to assault
Steenkamp, who was shot four timesin the early hours of Thursday, or
if she used it to defend herself.

Earlier suggestion Oscar Pistorius could have mistaken Steenkamp for
an intruder has been dismissed by the police. More so, City Press said
she was wearing a nightie at the time of the killing.

"The suspicion is that the first shot, in the bedroom, hit her in the
hip. She then ran and hid herself in the toilet… He fired three more
shots," a police source told City Press.

Oscar Pistorius, a double amputee became a national icon who
inspiredpeople around the world, and a sort of celebrity when he
became the first double amputee to compete against able-bodied
athletes at the London Olympics.

Pistorius who has been charged for murder is due to apply for bail at
a new court hearing on Tuesday, the same day a memorial service will
be held for his slain girlfriend.

Oscar Pistorius and Reeva Steenkamphave been dating since late last
year, and their relationship seemed perfect. Sources however say their
relationship wasn't as rosy as Reeva was presenting it to friends.

In fact, she had plans, according to the sources that she was going to
disclose some secrets about their relationship thought to be abuse of
some kind.

Pistorius faces a life sentence if convicted of premeditated murder,
as alleged by state prosecutors.

Although, more evidence rising against Pistorius is making it hard for
people who love him to still believe his innocence, his family
haveindicated that the star athlete, who broke down sobbing during his
initial court appearance on Friday, would plead not guilty, and they
will stand by him.

"We have no doubt there is no substance to the allegation and that the
state's own case, including its own forensic evidence, strongly
refutes any possibility of a premeditated murder or indeed any murder
at all," his uncle Arnold Pistorius said in a statement Saturday.

Goldie Harvey's last moments

When budding Hip-Hop artiste, Late
Goldie Harvey, left United States for
Nigeria earlier in the week little did she
know that that will be her
last international trip on earth.
According to eyewitness account, Goldie
arrived Lagos on Thursday afternoon
and headed for her Park View residence
in Ikoyi area of Lagos. On her wayhome,
she called her BFF Denrele Edun, whom
she was filming a reality TV show with,
to meet up with her at her flat.
On getting there, Denrele was said to
have noticed that she was not
looking or acting fine, but they all
thought it might have been as a result of
the long-mile trip to Los Angeles that
may be taking toll on her.
She was said to have complained of
headache, dizziness, and general body
weakness. At this point Denrele insisted
that she dresses up for a visit to the
hospital.
She was said to have slumped
while dressing up and all efforts to
revive the 31-year old entertainer
proved abortive. She was rushed to
Reddington Hospital on Victoria
Island and she was certified dead by the
doctors on duty as all CPR measures
conducted on her were of no effect.
According to the Hospital's information
unit, the artiste was "Brought In Dead"
around 7.15pm, and cause of her death
cannot be ascertained until an autopsy
is carried out.
Still in shock, Denrele was said to have
wept uncontrollably at the hospital
when the sad news was broken to him
that Goldie could not be revived. Goldie's
remains have been deposited at the
Lagos University Teaching Hospital
(LUTH) morgue while they await
confirmation from her immediate
family whether to conduct an autopsy
on her corpse.
But at the moment, her family, friends,
fans and the whole Nigerian
entertainment industry is still in a deep
shock as to what could have killed such
a talented star at the onset of a glorious
career. May her soul rest in peace.

Another Nollywood Actor cum Producer dies

In what has become like an evil wind
blowing across the entertainment
industry in Nigeria and just as Nigerians
are yet to come to terms with the death
of Goldie, popular Abuja based actor,
director and producer, Collins Ifeanyi
Chukwu is dead.
The artiste died yesterday at the
Maitama General Hospital after a brief
illness. He is survived by his young wife,
Blessing Collins, and little son, Doxa
Efechukwu Collins.
The news, which was confirmed
yesterday by the chairman of the guild in
Abuja, Agility Onwurah, has thrown the
Abuja chapter of AGN into mourning.
The usually boisterous Access Garden,
which is the official location of the
guild's activities, was full of tears and
wailings yesterday.
A call placed to his wife yesterday was
answered by her mother who said
Blessing Collins was not in the right
frame of mind to speak. The mother-in-
law however confirmed the sad news.
Doxa Efechukwu Collins, his sole heir,
was born on May 12, 2012, and was
dedicated on Sunday July 22 at the Christ
Chosen Church of God, Gwarimpa, Abuja,
after which his parents treated
entertainment practitioners to a lavish
ceremony at their Jikwoyi residence.
"It is quite unfortunate that the young
lady has been widowed at this early age
with such a little boy. This is a big loss,
not only to the family, but to the
entertainment industry in Abuja," Frank
White, chairman of the Producers Guild
of Nigeria, Abuja Chapter lamented.
The late Collins had a knack for
producing gospel movies and has to his
credit The Burning Flames, el-Gibor, Back
to Bethel, and was before his death,
working on another blockbuster.
He is one of the very successful Abuja
based entertainers who have been able
to prove that you don't have to be in
Lagos to make it in the industry.
Until his death, he was the PRO elect of
the Actors guild of Nigeria, AGN, Abuja
chapter.

loversreportedly drowned in a swimmingpool of a popular Hotel.

EXPENSIVE DELIVERY: U.S. PUTS STRICTER MEASURES ON DELIVERY IN THE COUNTRY

In a bid to curtail such indiscriminatepractice, the U.S Embassy has
outlined conditions which have to bemet before such a visa which falls
under medical tourism category is issued.

The applicant has to show proof of available funds of at least
$140,000 (about N22 million) to pay medical fees, and secondly, the
applicant has to show proof of the need for medical attention in the
US such as high risk pregnancy and the likes.

US Embassy Chief of Consular Section,Ms. Carol Cox, in an interview
with select journalists in Abuja, Thursday, disclosed that it would
cost at least $60,000 to have a baby in the US. Theamount may go as
high as $140,000 if complications arise from delivery.

Cox said the proof of availability of such funds became necessary so
as not to pass the bills of non-citizens while in the country on
American taxpayers.

"We owe the American public who pay taxes to make sure that those who
seek medical services in the US pay for such services. This is
essential because there are those who have the money and are not
willing to pay.

"It is very frustrating when you see awoman who is obviously pregnant,
sometimes seven months gone, tell you during a visa interview that she
is just going to the US for a vacation," she said.

“Sweet, intelligent, sexy and magnificent cook!!!!”: Goldie’s husband, Andrew Harvey speaks [DETAILS]

Andrew Harvey recently granted an interview after rumours surrounding
his wife, Susan 'Goldie' Harvey's death went viral.

He denied drug related rumours but decided to go further and speak
fully about life with the singer.

Read the interview here:.

Q: When did you wed her? And were you still married as at when she
passed yesterday?

A: We wed in December 2005 and were very much married when she passed
indeed I was talking to her on arrival in Lagos before the fateful
event.

Q: I see you moved back to England. Do you have another family?

A: I work in Malaysia, we have a private home in UK, I do not have a
second family.

Q: Also did you have kids together?

A: No kids, we were planning this year.

Q: How did you hear of her death? I found out you last saw her in December?

A: I was talking to her on arrival in Lagos before the fateful event.

Q: How did you meet her? She must have been very young…

A: I met her at a friend's leaving party and fell in love straight
away, but had to work hard to persuade her I was genuine

Q: So you will be planning to come here for burial rites…

A: Yes I have applied for visa and shall come next week.

Q: But how did you manage the Prezzo drama?

A: Prezzo was part of BBA game, just like in the movies, there was
nothing to fear.

Q: But funny it dragged way beyond BBA

A: It dragged because the media dragged it, other wise it would have
died naturally. Prezzo will say anything to get attention.

Q: Do you think he fell in love? And did you ever think Susan liked
him for a minute…?

A: People fall in love and it's not impossible to love more than one
person, but there are different levels. She liked him initially, but
began to despise him and distanced herself as he tried to use her she
complained he was very manipulative.

Q: How did you come about your alias 'Oyibopeppay?

A: Oyiiibopeppay is a name used in the villages for white man getting
burned in the sun. I used to work in the bush erecting BTS for MTN and
Glo.

Q: You have direct access to her password?
The memories album was posted on her twitter. Or you requested for an
admin to post?

A: I am an official admin. I don't need any password but my own. It
was authorised by Goldie.

Q: One last question: so much speculation on cause of death. I see
from your Facebook timeline that you've followed the reports. Have the
doctors/family/label told you what the cause of death is?

A: An autopsy is being carried out and we will await results. The rest
is speculation and hearsay.

Q: And did she have any medical condition?

A: She had no medical condition.

Q: Is it true she was in India recently?

A: She was in Malaysia, we spent Christmas together away from prying eyes.

Q: What will you miss most about her?

A: Everything, she was the most beautiful person I ever met, no moment
was wasted. Sweet, intelligent, sexy and a magnificent cook!!!!
And she was a determined young lady…
Very. That's what I liked about her.

Q: Are you originally from England? Was she officially a citizen of
your country by marriage? Or that was not concluded?

A: I'm from England and was processing Nigerian citizenship before I
was transferred to Malaysia. Of course she was citizen of UK before we
met, she lived and schooled there.

Q: She was indeed a star, as I'm sure you've seen from the tributes
coming from far and near. Even the BBC and Billboard recognise her
star.

A: Yes we saw it on BBC news tonight. It is a devastating loss, but I
support just as much wherever she has gone to.

WIZKID FINALLY PART WAYS WITH E.M.E., STARTS HIS RECORD LABEL

Although Wizkid's exit from Banky W's Empire Mates Entertainment has
not attracted the kind of controversy that greeted D'banj's
separation from Don Jazzy, he seems to be determined to chart a new
course for himself.

Wizkid indicated in a recent tweet on his Twitter handle that he has
pitched his tent with a new records label known as Star Boy
Entertainment.

He has not come out directly to claim ownership of the label, but it
is widely speculated that it belongs to him.

Fans of the young, talented artiste have been sending him dozens of
goodwill messages on Twitter, acknowledging the birth of Star Boy
Entertainment.

In addition to the label, it was gathered thatthe singer had signed a
deal with an international management team based in England and
appointed his long-time friend, Godwin Tom, manager.

A few weeks ago, it was rumoured that Wizkid might consider mending
fences with his erstwhile boss and mentor, Banky W, thereby suggesting
a possible return to the EME, the music label that nurtured his
career.

But the rift between both artistes had deepened, despite several
efforts by Banky W to prevail on Wizkid not to leave. Even an attempt
to get the latter's mother to mediate in the matter is said to have
failed to yield positive results.

Things started falling apart between the young artiste and EME when he
fired his manager, Osagie Osarenkhoe, in September 2012 for reasons
best known to him. Further proof that all was not well came to light
when he moved out of his former residence to a new apartment somewhere
in Lekki Phase 1.

Early this month, Wizkid gave the indication on Twitter that he had
finally made up his mind to quit EME. He had tweeted: "Don't take
loyalty for stupidity. Don't! Moving on to start all over again!"

Many people read between the lines and concluded that he might be
nursing a deep grudge against the management of the records label.

Prezzo intended to propose to Goldie on Feb. 14.

All has not been heard about the later Nigerian music star, Goldie. I
have been following some stories coming in from sources close to
Goldie.

As at time of posting this, one of my sources is right now signing the
condolence registerat Goldie's home in Ikoyi.

Prezzo actually came in last night. And from what I learnt, he was
asking why Goldie didn't come to pick him.

Yet again, It seems that he had planned to propose to Goldie yesterday
being val's day. Above is the engagement ring he had planned to give
Goldie. It was posted by sources close to Goldie.

UNILAG student sold kidney to graduate

A University of Lagos (UNILAG) student who couldn't swap kidneys to
save his father's lifeconfessed in the hospital that he sold one of
his kidney to graduate with a first class.

The 24 years old boy recollected how he soldone of his kidneys to the
dean of his faculty a few days before his convocation. He says he was
being threatened with the reality of having to spend an additional two
years to his already prolonged eight years stay in the school.

He was nearly in tears while he explained why he couldn't donate his
last and only kidney to his father who is in desperate need of a
kidney to survive.

Despite him graduating with a first class, it issad to say he has
never been able to secure an adequate job.

So with no kidney, no job, and no money, how does this young boy
expect to save his dying father?

The war between Wizkid and Banky W isn't over yet

The war between the EME boss Banky W and Wizkid has taken a different
dimension and it looks like Wizkid will maintain his stands on leaving
the EME crew.

According to sources close to both parties, BankyW was pleading with
Wizkid to change his decision on his exit from the team but wizkid
payed deaf ears and said his decision stands.

But since BankyW has been trying to control the situation and prevent
the news from getting to the public, he begged wizkid to show up at
his album launch and surprisingly wizkid turned him down, this made
BankyW mad and felt so disappointed about wizzy's decision.

Prezzo, you have caused enough pain- Goldie's husband

The secret husband of late Nigerian artist Goldie Harvey, Andrew who
made himself known today is now on Prezzo's case a day after the
sudden death of his Naija queen. Inresponse to an article about former
BBA star Prezzo's plan to visit Lagos to view Goldie's last video,
here is what Goldie Harvey's husband said: "Prezzo, please leave our
family to grieve in peace.
You have caused enough hurt and pain". Prezzo is yet to replyto any of
the above allegations.

We learnt he was the main cause of the relationship problem Goldie had
with her secret husband.

During the course of her stardom, she has never revealed the man in
her life. Goldie and Andrew tied the knot back in 2006 in Nigeria
before she rose to fame. Late Goldie Harvey even claimed she's single
in several interviews.

The smart chick used the bobo to get paper for UK and move backto
Nigeria to establish her career. The couplenever had any issue
together but unknown to many, Goldie already had a child in Nigeria.
