Approximately 100 million Nigerians may finally be able to watch their
darling Super Eagles Team on Terrestrial Television platforms, a
source privy to the TV negotiations has just informed us.
It may sound trite, but as the Super Eagles have defied the odds to
book a place in Sunday's Afcon final, millions of their countrymen
back home haven't been able towatch them on affordable free-to-air
platforms due to a wrangling financial dispute between broadcast
owners, Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Nigerian
broadcast body, the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON).The
saving grace has been Cable TV Channels from where thousands of
Viewingcentres have been milking the populace dry.
Huge sums of money from sponsorship deals may have been lost as well
owing to the stalemate, but it does look like the two warring parties
have found a middle ground and the guy with a Television in the
village may just be able to catch Nigeria in action on Sunday from
Johannesburg, after all.

El-rufai's book's full of lies!- Atiku
The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir
el-Rufai, has come under fire from former Vice-President Atiku
Abubakar, who accused him of writing alleged fiction for
self-glorification at the expense of truth.
Reacting to el-Rufai's book, entitled, The Accidental Public Servant,
the Media Office of Atiku, dismissed the book as a collection of
"fiction, half-truths, exaggeration and reflection of selective
memory".
Atiku was particularly piqued by el-Rufai's claim that he had almost
resigned as the former Director General of the Bureau of Public
Enterprises because of alleged persistent pressure and interference by
him (the former VP), who was then the Chairman of the National Council
on Privatisation.
Atiku expressed disbelief that the former FCT Minister forgot soon
what he said at the Senate Public Hearing on BPE, held between August
8 and 13, 2011. That Adhoc committee was headed by Senator Ahmed
Lawan.
He recalled that el-Rufai said he had special relationship with former
President Olusegun Obasanjo, which gave him direct access and the
discretion to bypass the Council on Privatisation, headed by Atiku in
order to get the approval of the President.
He wondered how el-Rufai could reconcile his threat of resignation
with the accounts he told the Senate about the latitude of freedom he
enjoyed at BPE because of his closeness to former President Obasanjo.
On the claim by el-Rufai that former President Obasanjo went on bended
knees before him to seek his cooperation for second term bid in 2003,
Atiku dismissed the claim as a figment of el-Rufai's wild imagination.
He said such a claim lacked any credibility because Atiku and Obasanjo
were together behind closed doors, and that only the duo knew what
actually transpired between them.
The statement also added that for a man like el-Rufai, who has a
"notorious reputation for disparaging religions and their icons,the
attack on Atiku was the least surprising".
He noted that if he could go to such an irreverent extent to disparage
religious icons, who is an ordinary mortal, like Atiku Abubakar, not
to bedisparaged by el-Rufai?
But in his reaction, El-Rufai advised Atiku and his team to read the
book before passing judgment.
The former minister said, in an email signed by his spokesperson, Mr.
Muyiwa Adekeye, that, "The Atiku team should read the book properly
and respond to the detailed facts.
"For instance, their man should tell what happened with the NITEL GSM
contract that Motorola lost to Ericsson, despite the American company
submitting the lowest bid."

Siasia tips Emenike for greater heights
Emenike, to be counted among the top strikers in the world very soon.

From kokolet to Consulate General's wife- Chioma Akuezue
You may remember Chioma Akuezue as the cute aspiring musician from as
the cute aspiring musician from D'banj's 2009 reality TV show "Koko
Mansion".
When Chioma signed up for Koko Mansion, she shared her previous
struggles yet emphasized her focus on her goals and values. According
to her, many people had tried but failed to take advantage of her
under the guise of helping her with her career, "I want to be a
superstar, but not at the expense of my integrity", she said.
Chioma made a good impression in the house but was evicted as she was
deemed "too quiet" compared to the other contestants.
The ex-musician made the news this week as she was introduced as the
wife of the head of mission for the Federal Republic of Germany
Consulate in Lagos, Consul General Walter L. von den Driesch. This was
during an official visit Ekiti State where the Consul General met with
Governor Kayode Fayemi and other state officials in Ado Ekiti.
Many were surprised by the introduction as no news of their wedding
had been announced prior to this time.
Other than a few red carpet appearances, Chioma has kept a low profile

course with the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators
and worked as a Key Account Manager for Lufthansa in Nigeria. Walter

STEP UP 4D: Lagos Moves to Introduce Cable Cars for Mass Transportation as Okada Replacement
getting a replacement for the commercial motorcycle transport system
(popularly called Okada), a cable car company, Ropeways Transport
Limited, is set to launch a cable car mass urban transit system in the
nation's commercial capital.
This is as a result of the signing of a 30-year Franchise Agreement by
Ropeways Transport Limited, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport
Authority (LAMATA) and the Lagos State Government recently.
According to the Tribune, which reported the story, under the terms of
the agreement, Ropeways Transport will this November begin the
construction of towers, stations and connecting network cables along
various routes covered in the first phase of the project, namely,
Ijora–Iddo, Iddo–Adeniji, Apapa–Oluwole, Oluwole–Adeniji,
Adeniji–Obalende, Obalende–Falomo, and Falomo–Victoria Island, just as
the project is expected to be fully completed and commissioned by
early 2015.
Speaking on the development, the Chief Executive Officer of Ropeways
Transport Limited, Capt. Dapo Olumide expressed his belief that
theLagos cable car transit system would provide an alternative means
of masstransportation in the city and it will help ease the current
transportation hassles in Lagos and help restore dignity to commuting
because the current situation hampers economic development within the
city and negatively impacts the quality of life of its residents.
